Hudson Valley 5Rhythms

Hudson Valley 5Rhythms at Ascend Collective

Second Saturday and last Saturday Every Month from 5pm - 6:30pm

Led by Peter Fodera, Stephanie Diamond and other Guest Teachers

5Rhythms is a dance practice created by the dancer/musician Gabrielle Roth in which participants gather in a supportive community, dancing instinctively to music, guided by a certified teacher/DJ. It is a combination between group meditation and dancing with the ecstatic abandon of someone who is absolutely certain they are all alone, but instead are in a supportive community. Wherever the 5Rhythms are practiced, a community is born to dance, to sweat, to change, to support, and to provide a brave space for each of us to shatter the ego’s hold and awaken the juicy, unpredictable, fascinating, edge-walking, rock star part of ourselves that yearns to be free.

The 5Rhythms are: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness. Classes last two hours. They begin slow, the pace pick ups in the middle and end with a slow unwinding.

Wear clothes you can move in, dance barefoot or with indoor sneakers, bring a water bottle and your open heart. This is a drug and alcohol free practice.

This Yoga for Deep Rest class aims to support your body to learn to relax fully, so the mind and body soften to allow the nervous system settle.

This class is about enabling you to let go of physical and mental stress and encourage your sympathetic nervous system (fight, flight freeze) to dial down and your parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) to dial up - promoting balance and helping you to reset.

You will be guided into a few very supportive asanas to relax the body and then you will be guided through a Yoga Nidra mediation enhanced with essential oils. A special place of sleepless sleep where you just listen to your internal pulse of just being.

Energy Masters with Guruji

Are you just functioning, or are you truly living your full being?

That is the question Shree Guru Bhaneshwaranand starts with. He is a Vedic master from India on his first official US teaching tour this spring, and The Collective is honored to host him on May 17th.

His work draws on Vedic healing traditions so carefully preserved that most of the world has never encountered them. Practices passed quietly from teacher to student for centuries, never commercialized, never diluted. They work not just on the body but on the subtle layers beneath it, restoring harmony between the individual and the greater whole.

In this workshop, Guruji maps the 8 paths to energy mastery and explores the invisible forces at work across the 5 sheaths of the soul. He helps each person discover which of the three universal energies is most alive in them: Wisdom, Wealth, or Strength. Then he shows them how to consciously develop and work with it.

Maybe you recognize something in this. You’ve done the work. You’ve studied, practiced, searched. Real moments of clarity have come. And yet there are still areas of your life that don’t reflect the energy you know is inside you. Health, love, creative power. You keep pushing when your body is asking you to stop. You doubt your own guidance.

A lack of energy, love, and success in our outer life is not random. It reflects an inner energetic imbalance in the subtle layers surrounding the soul. Guruji has spent his life learning how to work with exactly that.

His work is not religious. It is not tied to any tradition or lineage. It is open to everyone.

$72 early bird (until May 1)
$88 full price

Shree Guru Bhaneshwaranand was initiated onto the path of enlightenment at the age of 13 and has spent his life mastering ancient Vedic spiritual practices. Those who sit with him consistently describe a quality of presence that is difficult to put into words.

His work has reached students across Europe, South America, and India. What they describe is not intellectual learning but a direct experience: something that shifts in the room, in the body, in patterns that had not moved through years of conventional healing work.

Guruji maps the universe through the lens of ancient Vedic wisdom: the 8 paths to energy mastery, the 5 sheaths of the soul, and the three universal energies of Wisdom, Wealth, and Strength. His teaching is experiential rather than conceptual. He believes that a lack of health, love, and success is not random but the outer manifestation of an inner energetic imbalance, one that can be restored.

His work is non-religious and does not require any prior spiritual practice. It is open to everyone who is ready to remember something ancient within themselves.

Guruji is making his first official US teaching tour in May and June 2026.

Monthly Yoga Nidra with Dani

If you find it hard to switch off, this class is for you! Achieving this however can be very challenging for most of us, especially if you find it hard to relax, to fall asleep or to stay asleep.

Danielle Locastro

Danielle Locastro, usually known as Dani, is a professional artist and a certified yoga instructor. She has been exploring her connection to something greater than herself her entire life through her art. She initially came to the mat 17 years ago as a way back to health after a near death experience during childbirth. When she started practicing with Charles Matkin and Lisa Bennet, she knew that this practice was transformative. The first time she moved her body and breath in a yoga class for her was like drawing, praying and painting. It too would be part of her life’s practice to maintain a healthy, mind, body, and spirit connection.

In 2013 Dani starting teaching after achieving her teacher certification, in the Raja Hatha Style of Yoga under Amy Pearce-Hayden. Her focus is on alignment with a dash of creative expression so that yoga on and off the mat is accessible for everybody. She works weekly in a variety of Hudson Valley Studios such as Elevate Yoga & Barre, Encourage, All Sport Fitness and Ascend Studio in her hometown of Cold Spring. In addition she works with numerous private clients to maintain wellness, promote balance, improve quality of life and explore creative expression.

Spring has arrived and so has our guest teacher for this week, Heeraa Sazevich. Heeraa combines her knowledge of 5Rhythms, theater, meditation and emotional release to create a safe and creative space for participants to let go and utterly embrace their whole selves through movement.

Heeraa is a life-long dancer and meditator with a BA in Theater Arts UCLA. A 5RTA certified Heartbeat level teacher of the 5Rhythms based in California, she travels and teaches globally.

Having founded dance communities in Hawaii and Idaho, she has facilitated conscious movement for over 20 years. Heeraa has danced the 5Rhythms since 1997, participating in many workshops with the source of the practice, Gabrielle Roth and her son Jonathan Horan.

She studied classical Japanese dance and theater in Kyoto, Japan for six years, spent seven years in India practicing meditation and emotional release therapies and has built conscious dance communities on the island of Oahu, Hawaii and in Sun Valley, Idaho for over 12 years before becoming a 5Rhythms teacher.

Sisterhood of the Rose: A Monthly Women's Circle

Let us gather amongst Sisters - to witness, support & inspire each other; share in one another’s wisdom; re-connect to our precious bodies; center in our Divine essence; create and manifest our most sacred dreams; and celebrate the love, the courage & the joy we hold in our hearts!  We will engage with the sacred medicines of sound, breath, ritual, movement, plants and essential oils. The Sisterhood of the Rose circles are hosted by Katya Varlamova - Cold Spring based clinical herbalist, Ascend maker, and founder of Warmicita Herbals.

“Rose is an embodiment of the Divine Feminine. She delights in beauty and magic, yet she is not ashamed of her thorns… I see Sisterhood of the Rose as a powerful community of beautiful sisters, and a sacred space of deep connection, nurture, healing & celebration!”

Katya is a clinical herbalist with more than 12 years of experience. She is a naturopath, plant wellness educator, and founder of the organic herbal wellness line Warmicita Herbals (www.warmicitaherbals.com, IG @warmicitaherbals).

Katya sees clients for a host of acute and chronic health concerns. She uses herbal medicine from a variety of traditions as well as highest quality natural supplements to help bring her clients' health to its optimum level. Katya works closely with her clients to identify the true cause of health challenges. She uses muscle testing and dynamic kinesiology as added techniques to shed light on the true origins of health patterns. Her work takes a very holistic approach, and sometimes the path to true wellness calls for shifts in non-physical realms, such as emotional, psychological, energetic or spiritual aspects of being. Katya then uses flower essences, gem elixirs, guided meditation, inner child work, ritual and breath work, to encourage and nurture the process of inner transformation. Diet, lifestyle, digestion, sleep, energy levels and connection with nature are always considered.

Katya welcomes in-person clients in NYC and in the Hudson Valley (at Ascend in Cold Spring NY.) Zoom sessions are also available. She offers single sessions, as well as 1 and 3-month health partnership programs.

Katya hosts plant walks, women’s circles, and teaches plant medicine classes and retreats in NYC, the Hudson Valley, Europe and the Amazon.
